Apple- Love it or hate it

According to the Financial Times, Apple could be facing an investigation of the supposed restrictions on its new ad platform iAd; this would adversely affect its competitors, such as Google and Microsoft.  Basically, Apple is trying to control the advertising that appears on Apple devices, while squeezing out its direct competition.

Anti-trust regulators will be poring over the facts of the case, although it’s not clear if these regulators will be from the FTC or the Department of Justice.

Google would be the most affected competitor, since it recently acquired AdMob, a mobile ad company, and with Apple’s tactics it would be denied a large share of the mobile ad market- a share dominated by mobile devices highly sought after by advertisers, due both to the high cost of the AdMob acquisition and the many iPhone contracts.

Knowing Steve Jobs and how cunning he is, this is likely far from over.
