MySpace and Google renew Ad agreement

MySpace and Google have just renewed their advertising agreement, which has been ongoing for the last three years.  According to the agreement, Google paid the social network $900 million in exchange for the use of its ad spaces.  The new agreement includes the use of more visual formats through Google’s ad platform and DoubleClick Ad Exchange, as well as MySpace’s use of Google’s search technology.

Neither MySpace or Google has indicated the amount of the operation, surely so as not to harm the business value of MySpace.  It is rumored that Google is paying a much lower rate than in the previous contract, and this is due in large part to Facebook, which has turned its competitor and the ex market leader of the social networks into a true “dwarf” of the internet. Maybe Mark Zuckerberg should demand some of the money in the agreement from MySpace, in exchange for letting MySpace live to see another day…
