If you´re a professional and looking for an employer or employee, chances are that you´re “LinkedIn,” part of a huge social media presence online. However, living in Chile, I thought that only applied to those in the United States. It turns out that I was wrong.
According to a recently released company statement, more than half of LinkedIn´s 100 million members reside outside of the US, and that number is constantly growing. Currently, they are gaining around one million new members weekly, a great majority coming from Brazil and Mexico said the company´s CEO Jeff Weiner.
However, signing up is one thing, but actual use is another. According to the company, the “large majority” of their members aren´t even visiting, updating or posting on a monthly basis.
So, while it appears that LinkedIn is the place to be, maybe you shouldn´t get offended when the person you´re trying to link up with doesn´t reply or accept. They probably haven´t been on their profile for quite some time.
