Avocados from Mexico

Avocado is an excellent source of vitamins, healthy fats and nutrients. You can find Mexican avocado in your local supermarket, most likely it will have a sticker that says “from Mexico”. The most popular avocado dish is the Guacamole, which is widely used as an appetizer or snack (or “botana” in Spanish). Some people call it “Guac” or even “Uac” without the G. In the 1970s (according to Wikipedia) guacamole became popular throughout all of America, initially due to a Sunset Magazine cover story featuring avocado recipes.

In the late 90’s the sale of Mexican Avocado was allowed into the US Market. In order to promote this fruit, the Mexican Association of Avocado Producers and Exporters has been doing an amazing job at reaching out to the Latino population as well as to the general market.  Portada outlines the Spring integrated marketing campaign for Avocados de Mexico, targeting four major DMAs: Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Chicago.
