Feliz Cinco de Mayo! For those of you wondering, Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of the Mexican army defeating the French army in the battle of Puebla in 1862. What many of you may not know, is that Cinco de Mayo is also the anniversary date when the social networking site LinkedIn launched in 2003.
Today, LinkedIn boasts over 70 million members and is one of the top 40 most visited websites in the US. It sets itself apart from many other social networking sites by focusing on the business side of networking. Close to 40 percent of LinkedIn’s user base make more than $100,000 a year and come from more affluent countries such as the USA, UK, Canada and the Netherlands. If you’re not on LinkedIn and would like to grow your business or increase your sales, then now may be a good time to join.
