Aplicación Siri para iPhone

Jeff Haden recently wrote in Inc magazine about a phenomenon that is obvious to anyone who has interacted with the new iPhone 4s, and that is the fact that Siri, the iPhone’s new voice recognition software, allows the user to bypass apps and search engines altogether to find what they need. The question then is whether this really benefits the consumer, and what will then happen to traditional SEO strategies when users ask their phone a question rather than enter a query on Google.

The iPhone 4s offers only one killer app, and it is Siri, the voice-recognition software that allows users to dictate commands to their phone. Rather than use an app to look for the nearest Italian restaurant, a user will simply ask the phone, “Where is the nearest Italian restaurant?”, and Siri will find one. Haden explains in his article that Siri uses Yelp recommendations for queries such as the one mentioned above, so anyone who is currently spending money on a SEM strategy to promote their local business may want to look into Yelp optimization instead. In general, mobile users will find things less through search and more through hyper local services such as Epinions, Google Places, and Yelp. Now more than ever, it is the wisdom of the crowd that guides users to your business, rather than a finely-targeted SEM strategy. Just ask Siri.
